Breath Prayer

INHALE: Spirit, breathe

EXHALE: New life into me.

He took a deep breath and breathed into them. “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

You are the breath
In my lungs.
You are the air
That I breathe.

Breathe new life
Into me.
Be the wind
That carries me
Across the water.

Beacon of hope,
Ever-present help,
Carry me on the
Whispering night sea.

Bring me to morning
In the shelter
Of your wings.
Amen.

Mama Monday #6

  I read this last week, and it was just what I needed at one particular moment….  Maybe it’s just what you need today too. O God, empty me of angry judgments, and aching disappointments, and anxious trying, and breathe into me something like quietness and confidence, that the lion and the lamb in me may lie down together and be led by a trust as straightforward as a little child.
